12 Sep, 2025

The Health and Lifestyle Awareness Development Initiative (HLADI) played a key role in supporting the Nutrition Budget Tagging (NBT) Training held in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), organized under the leadership of the Federal Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning. The workshop brought together budget officers, nutrition focal persons, planners, and financial management teams to strengthen their ability to track nutrition-related expenditures using the NBT system.

HLADI’s Digital & ICT Support

HLADI provided full technical assistance throughout the training sessions in the FCT, ensuring a seamless and well-coordinated experience for both facilitators and participants.
The support included:

- Digital participant registration

- Deployment of online pre-tests and post-tests

- Daily evaluation forms for participant feedback

- Attendance tracking and verification

- Troubleshooting login and dashboard access challenges

- Photo documentation for reporting purposes

This digital integration ensured proper documentation, enhanced learning engagement, and improved the accuracy of training data.

Participation and Digital Performance

Based on HLADI’s digital records, the FCT NBT trainings had strong participation, with:

- Pre-test completion: 79%

- Post-test completion: 90%

- Daily evaluations: 60% average submission rate

These figures highlight participants’ active involvement and the effectiveness of the digital tools deployed by HLADI.

Key Training Focus Areas

Participants were trained on:

- Understanding Nigeria’s Nutrition Budget Tagging taxonomy

- Differentiating nutrition-specific and nutrition-sensitive budget lines

- Integrating NBT into Public Financial Management (PFM) systems

- Improving transparency and accountability in nutrition budgeting

- Strengthening reporting structures for state and federal nutrition programs

The facilitators used real examples and state-level scenarios to help participants apply the NBT framework in their respective ministries and agencies.

Conclusion

HLADI’s technical and digital support during the FCT Nutrition Budget Tagging training greatly enhanced the quality, coordination, and documentation of the workshop.
This contribution strengthened the capacity of stakeholders to improve nutrition financing and accountability in the FCT.

HLADI remains committed to supporting national efforts that promote stronger Public Financial Management (PFM) systems and improved nutrition outcomes for all Nigerians.
